EA: Practice Interrupted by Lightning

File Under: pennington, mangini, Nugent, clemens, pace, Gholston

At 2:25 p.m. today, the lightning horn sounded at Weeb Ewbank Hall. The lightning detection system, installed last summer, signaled a withdrawal for everyone — the players, the coaches, the reporters and the 1,300 spectators — outside.

While Eric Mangini immediately led the Jets into the bubble, the reporters didn’t arrive until twenty minutes later. Following an escape from the downpour, I … More

Jets-Browns: Fourth Quarter

File Under: clemens, Leon Washington, Kellen Winslow, Phil Dawson, Joe Jurevicius

The rain predicted for early this evening has begun, streaking the pressbox window as I look down on the Browns mounting another impressive drive toward the red zone.

WR Joe Jurevicius is called for offensive pass interference on a third-down stop for an illegal pick, and the Jets take the penalty. It looks like a great call when Kellen Winslow can't handle a perhaps slick ball thrown behind him … More

Jets-Browns: Third Quarter

File Under: clemens, Darrelle, RevisDerek, AndersonBraylon, EdwardsLeon, WashingtonKellen

Darrelle Revis gets some more higher education on Cleveland's first drive of the second half. The Jets' rookie corner is victimized on Derek Anderson's 45-yard hookup to Braylon Edwards to the Jets 5, then two plays later on a back-shoulder pass that the 6'3" Edwards plucks away from the 5'11" Revis. And suddenly, 2½ minutes into the new half, it's ...

Jets-Patriots: Fourth Quarter

File Under: clemens, Laurence, MaroneyTom, BradyStephen, GostowskiKellen

The inability to force a New England punt on first-and-20 may be the last gasp. The Pats have softened the Jets up so that Laurence Maroney is running crisply, Brady is keeping the visitors humming and the clock running with nine consecutive completions.

Now it's 10 in a row as Brady slings a pass out to Jabar Gaffney. Darrelle Revis is on the coverage and makes a nice tackle, but it's not quick… More

Defense Turns the Tables

File Under: david, david, Barrett, Harris, Jason, kellen, clemens, Trusnik

Perhaps the Jets' defenders had heard enough about Chad Pennington's aerial assault on Sunday because the tables were turned Monday.  Bob Sutton's unit carried the play in the Green & White's only workout of the day.

Along the line, rookie Jason Trusnik, a 6'4", 250-pound undrafted free agent, displayed his pass rushing skills against D'Brickashaw Ferguson.  Trusnik, a two-time Division III All… More
