Jets' Picks (No Compensatories) Firmed Up

File Under: Eric Smith, Rashad Washington, Derrick Ward, compensatory picks, 2008 draft, Trevor Johnson

The NFL has just announced that it has awarded 32 compensatory picks in the 2008 draft. It's not necessarily a surprise that the Jets did not get any of those picks.

Under terms of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in a year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. Compensatory free agents are determined by a fo… More

Hubba-Bubble: Practice Goes Indoors

File Under: Eric Mangini, David Harris, Jonathan Vilma, Laveranues Coles, Kerry Rhodes, Rashad Washington

Two days of concentrated bye-week practices have kicked off today and the locale is noteworthy. The Jets are in their bubble.

It was raining this morning, but the precip had stopped and the sun was in the process of returning by the time the Jets went out to practice. But head coach Eric Mangini didn't waver — he took his squad indoors. By a highly unofficial tally, this is only the second time t… More

Long Day's Journey into Night

File Under: Chad Pennington, Laveranues Coles, Leon Washington, Rashad Washington

The Jets endured extended bookend practices today, with the long morning workout being followed by an equally lengthy night session. The team didn't leave the upper grass field next to Weeb Ewbank Hall until quarter after 10.

The occasion was a closed-to-the-public game-conditions practice. The Jets were divided into Green and White teams that went after each other in a series of fourth-quarter … More

Washingtons Stand Out Early

File Under: Brad Smith, Leon Washington, Cody Spencer, Rashad Washington, Andre Dyson

This morning's training camp practice was a Washington monument of sorts.

Leon Washington returned to uniform and to action after missing the previous two practices due to personal reasons. And the second-year scatback didn't look like he missed a step, especially on a dumpoff from Chad Pennington that No. 29 took darting and speeding deep into the secondary. The crowd of about 1,400 applauded.
