Mangini Fields Westhoff Questions

File Under: Eric Mangini, Justin Miller, Mike Westhoff, Kevin O'Dea

One theme that arose at head coach Eric Mangini's daily news conference this morning was that of Mike Westhoff and Internet rumors that had the longtime special teams guru returning to the Jets.

"Mike didn't leave because of anything in terms of him not being happy with the organization or me not being happy with Mike," Mangini said. "Mike's a great coach. I really like Mike a lot. He was in a re… More

Raymond Catches On in the P.M. Practice

File Under: Chad Pennington, Darrelle Revis, Kellen Clemens, Ben Graham, Mike Westhoff, Brett Ratliff, Erik Ainge, Kevin O'Dea, Paul Raymond, Joe Smith

One of the treats of watching every snap of every practice of your favorite NFL team is observing the unheralded or unknown players step up and make play after play.

Flag Football, Westhoff Tribute

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Mike Westhoff, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, penalties Seattle Giants

As we forge ahead into the off-season, I'll be revisiting some areas from 2007 as I complete one spreadsheet or database after another on the season just finished. Today the topic is penalties.

In short, head coach Eric Mangini's unflagging efforts to reduce flags against his team paid dividends again. The Jets had 63 penalties marked off against them for 486 yards, both figures the second-lowest… More

Westhoff's Leave Puts Damper on Win

File Under: Eric Mangini, Chris Baker, Mike Nugent, David Bowens, Leon Washington, Mike Westhoff

Normally in this spot I try to bring together some main theme of what the players are talking about in the Jets' postgame locker room. And to be sure, there was a consensus that the Jets were proud of each other for coming out of the game with the 13-10 overtime win over the Chiefs today, and how important it was for them to end this forlorn season with a victory.

But all of that gets superseded … More
