AFCE Trends: Jets' Kickoff-Return Scores

File Under: Justin Miller, Leon Washington, Mike Westhoff, Chicago Bears, Kevin O'Dea, Gale Sayers

And that brings me to the last of my AFC East Trends blogs, the Jets on the uptick. Despite the disappointments of last season, there are a number of positive areas to revisit on the eve of the 2008 training camp: the production of players such as Jerricho Cotchery, Kerry Rhodes, David Harris and Mike Nugent and the fact that the Jets remain the NFL's least-penalized team since, oh, about 1990.

A Weekend of Good Deeds Back Home

File Under: Chad Pennington, Matt Chatham, Jerricho Cotchery, Kerry Rhodes, Leon Washington, Brandon Moore, Sioux City, Birmingham Alabama

It was a weekend of homecomings for at least three Jets vets.

WR Jerricho Cotchery and S Kerry Rhodes returned to their Alabama roots — along with some of their Green & White friends — to give the kids of the Birmingham area some fun and games, a football camp, and some words of inspiration.

"I wanted to give kids in Birmingham opportunities I didn't have," Cotchery told the Birmingham News.… More

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Shaun Ellis, Brad Smith, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Leon Washington, Jason Pociask, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller

Yes, Vernon Gholston was at his first full-squad practice of any kind this morning, as we reported earlier. But while No. 56 was taking it slower in than he will at training camp, the Jets' other first-rounder with No. 81 was doing a little flying.

TE Dustin Keller, in fact, caught two passes on last year's No. 1 draft pick, the already accomplished starting CB Darrelle Revis.

Keller's first cat… More

5th Annual Classic: Good Golf, Great Deeds

File Under: Chad Pennington, Mike Tannenbaum, David Harris, Charity Golf Classic, Mike Nugent, James Dearth, Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, Leon Washington, Kris Jenkins

Football, golf and charity: Happy together.

And in the case of the fifth annual New York Jets Charity Golf Classic today, happy doesn't even capture it. The day started out hot but turned into a beautiful day for golf, warm yet breezy on the well-manicured grounds of a private club in Jericho, N.Y.

The Jets and their golfing fans were the stars of the day at the fifth annual Classic, whose prese… More
