Chatham, Poteat, Pociask Among Final Cuts

File Under: Eric Mangini, Matt Chatham, Hank Poteat, Jason Pociask, Jesse Chatman

Today is "Final Cut Day" in the NFL, and the Jets announced 22 player moves to get down to the NFL's 53-player maximum.

Two Jets veterans are at the top of the list as LB Matt Chatham and DB Hank Poteat were released. Eighteen other players were waived, and veteran S Cameron Worrell was placed on injured reserve (a correction from an earlier report in which we stated he was waived/injured).

This Week 'Very Exciting' for Justin Miller

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Eric Mangini, Justin Miller, Laveranues Coles, David Barrett, Hank Poteat, Andre Dyson, Derrick Strait, Deion Sanders

Justin Miller was in a playful mood — he rarely isn't — after Thursday's OTA practice, when he was surrounded by more reporters than since his Game 2 injury last September.

I asked him if one play he was in on that day, the end zone pass from Chad Pennington that Laveranues Coles couldn't hold, was kind of a significant play, indicative of his first reps with the Jets in a long time.

Jets-Chiefs: Fourth Quarter

File Under: David Harris, Hank Poteat, Leon Washington, Wallace Wright, Brodie Croyle, Jeff Webb

Neither offense can do anything. The Chiefs get to the Jets 37 at the top of the final frame, only to fall back to the 49 when David Harris blitzes and takes down Brodie Croyle for the Green & White's second sack of the game.

Then the Jets get the next Dustin Colquitt punt and Leon Washington immediately bursts free for a 22-yard run, but three more Leon runs fail to reach the stick and Ben Grah… More

Another Tool to Help Darrelle, DBs

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Eric Mangini, Justin McCareins, Hank Poteat, JUGS machine

Eric Mangini hearkened back to Darrelle Revis' Thanksgiving Day showing against Terrell Owens, calling his performance "excellent." Then the coach further advanced the development of his rookie corner when he invoked one of football and baseball's iconic trademarks when talking about the early slant pass to T.O. that Revis nearly intercepted deep in Dallas territory.

Jets-Bengals: Second Quarter

File Under: Chad Pennington, Mike Nugent, Hank Poteat, T.J. Housmandzadeh

The Jets, as the Bengals did before them, slow to a crawl in the red zone, but they tack on a 24-yard field goal by Mike Nugent to open their lead back to seven 3:20 into the second period.

Jets 10, Bengals 3

The drive, featuring a 12-yard Thomas Jones gallop, lasts 9:09. That's the longest Jets drive since they put together their 9:12 TD drive in Game 9 last year at New England, and those two d… More
