In First Practice, Woodhead Shows His Drive

File Under: Eric Barton, Justin Miller, Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, Dustin Keller, Danny Woodhead

The standout play in what was a pretty mundane morning practice of training camp (hey, it’s the first one) was a Danny Woodhead run during 7-on-7 drills.

Woodhead, the rookie running back, took the handoff and shot through a hole off left guard for a couple of yards before being wrapped up. In those drills, which are meant to be slightly more physical than a game of two-hand touch after school,… More

Round 1 Well Represented This Morning

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Shaun Ellis, Brad Smith, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Leon Washington, Jason Pociask, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller

Yes, Vernon Gholston was at his first full-squad practice of any kind this morning, as we reported earlier. But while No. 56 was taking it slower in than he will at training camp, the Jets' other first-rounder with No. 81 was doing a little flying.

TE Dustin Keller, in fact, caught two passes on last year's No. 1 draft pick, the already accomplished starting CB Darrelle Revis.

Hail, Hail: Nice Plays Before, After the Precip

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Laveranues Coles, Mike Nugent, Kellen Clemens, Bubba Franks, Danny Woodhead

Today's Jets OTA (Organized Team Activity) was impacted by a little EWA (Extreme Weather Activity). Midway through the session, a foreboding patch of dark gray clouds opened up over the Jets' upper grass practice field. For 10 minutes, it poured cold rain and even hail.

Reporters and even some team personnel headed for cover. I tried to tough it out but, wearing the same clothes that I expected t… More

Coach Cally's Record vs. the Jets

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Jerry Rice, Bill Callahan, Oakland Raiders Nebraska

Bill Callahan will meet with New York Jets reporters some time in the future, but Green & White fans almost have to feel as if they know their new assistant head coach/offense as they know some of the coaches and front office folks on the Patriots, Dolphins and Bills.

After all, the Jets went up against Callahan's offenses seven times in a five-season span — four times when he was Oakland's coord… More

They Fought the Good Fight in Foxboro

File Under: patriots, Chad Pennington, Victor Hobson, Eric Barton, Jerricho Cotchery, Justin McCareins, Gillette Stadium

There was no joy in the Jets' Gillette Stadium locker room after their 20-10 defeat by the undefeated Patriots in the rain and surrounded by the morning's snow. As Chad Pennington said, "I don't think you ever prove a point by losing."

So call it cold comfort. The Jets weren't a happy bunch, but they came as close as all but Baltimore and Philadelphia in trying to hang that first L on the Pats.
