Jets-Cardinals: First Half

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Shaun Ellis, Hank Poteat, Brett Favre, Bubba Franks, Dwight Lowery, Anquan Boldin, Kurt Warner

The weather has improved but the Jets, instead of raindrops, are dodging bullets and bending while not breaking for the game's first 10 minutes. First Arizona drives to second-and-goal at the Jets 9, but is turned back by two consecutive forced fumbles.

The first comes by Shaun Ellis on QB Kurt Warner, a strip-sack that Edgerrin James recovers ahead of Kenyon Coleman's pursuit back at the 32. Th… More

Jets-Chargers: First Half

File Under: Erik Coleman, Kerry Rhodes, David Barrett, Eric Smith, Abram Elam, Antonio Gates, Philip Rivers, Dwight Lowery, Vincent Jackson

David Barrett talked this past week about how exciting the new entry on his résumé has made him. A cornerback for his first eight seasons in the NFL, he lately has taken on safety responsibilities.

In fact, Barrett gets the first start of his pro career at safety in tonight's Jets-Chargers game.

The idea is no doubt to cover prolific TE Antonio Gates with a player who has corner skills. And th… More

Defenders Hold the Fort in South Florida

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Bryan Thomas, David Bowens, Brett Favre, Calvin Pace, Dwight Lowery

Anyone who thought this Jets season opener was going to be a walk in the South Florida was suffering from heat stroke. These new-look Dolphins were aggressive and physical as billed, and members of the Jets defense had souvenirs to prove it.

Calvin Pace sported a fat lip, which he dabbed with an icebag while a Miami TV reporter made fun of him on camera. Bryan Thomas paused from answering questio… More

Rookies Could Make Sunday Contributions

File Under: Eric Mangini, Laveranues Coles, Brett Favre, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller, Gus Granneman, Bubba Franks, Dwight Lowery

The Jets' 2008 Rookie Class should have some kind of impact on Sunday's season opener at Miami.

On our news pages, I wrote about Dwight Lowery, the fourth-round rookie who's in the mix, if not to start then to play a lot vs. the Dolphins.

Who would've thought Lowery would have a better shot at being announced during pregame introductions than first-rounders Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller?

SH: A Panoply of Big Plays at P.M. Practice

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Chris Baker, Brett Favre, Dustin Keller, Dwight Lowery, Marcus Henry

The Jets weren't holding back at today's training camp practice, turning their Hofstra University practice field into Broadway, what with all the big plays (apologies for corniness).

In a session (which ran 2 hours, 13 minutes) where so many plays stood out, it's near impossible to pick a star to lead with, so we'll list them out.

Offense

Chris Baker looked quite spry and athletic, making a cou… More
