Two Guys Wheeling and Dealing

File Under: Adam Schein, Chris Baker, Brian Schottenheimer, Jeremy Shockey, Eric Parker

This is the silly time of the year, when football writers and electronic personalities have no raw meat, no fresh input to sell to their customers. And so they make up trades.

Nothing wrong with this. It's what fans do every day of the week, even in summer, from the bars to the rec rooms to the water coolers. (Do folks still gather around water coolers in offices anymore? Just asking.)

Round 1 Well Represented This Morning

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Shaun Ellis, Brad Smith, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Leon Washington, Jason Pociask, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller

Yes, Vernon Gholston was at his first full-squad practice of any kind this morning, as we reported earlier. But while No. 56 was taking it slower in than he will at training camp, the Jets' other first-rounder with No. 81 was doing a little flying.

TE Dustin Keller, in fact, caught two passes on last year's No. 1 draft pick, the already accomplished starting CB Darrelle Revis.

Kellen-to-Musa Ends Practice with a Flourish

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Woody Johnson, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, Kris Jenkins, Bubba Franks, Scott Cohen

A Chad Pennington pass intended for Laveranues Coles bounced high into the air and the 6’4”, 360-pounder had a good read on the ball. He must have been thinking six, though, because he completely whiffed at a… More

A Number of Topics on Coach's Mind

File Under: Chris Baker, Eric Smith, David Clowney, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller, Julie Jake Luke

The first third of head coach Eric Mangini's news conference between minicamp practices today was predictably filled by questions about TE Chris Baker, who ended the morning practice with comments to a throng of reporters about his unhappiness over his current contract situation.

Mangini answered the questions similarly, by looking at the Jets' progress as a team.

"You know, I'm an inherently po… More

Kerry and the D Carry the Morning

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Laveranues Coles, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, David Clowney, Marcus Henry

The Jets’ first minicamp practice didn’t start off great for Kerry Rhodes, but boy, did he finish well.

Rhodes, who was hit in the helmet with a football by quality control/special teams assistant Ben Kotwica during an early bag drill, intercepted two long balls in practice to highlight the Green & White’s opening workout of their full-squad minicamp this morning.

Veteran tight end Chri… More
