'Swami' Berman Sees a Jets Contender

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Kellen Clemens, Alan Faneca, Chris Berman

During "Jets Night" batting practice at Shea Stadium last week, ESPN personality Chris Berman made his way from dugout to dugout and all locations in between. Even though the former Jets season ticket holder is one of sport’s biggest celebrities, he was kind enough to take some time to talk Jets football.

“I think they’re a playoff contender — I think they’re a wild-card contender,” Berman to… More

A Weekend of Good Deeds Back Home

File Under: Chad Pennington, Matt Chatham, Jerricho Cotchery, Kerry Rhodes, Leon Washington, Brandon Moore, Sioux City, Birmingham Alabama

It was a weekend of homecomings for at least three Jets vets.

WR Jerricho Cotchery and S Kerry Rhodes returned to their Alabama roots — along with some of their Green & White friends — to give the kids of the Birmingham area some fun and games, a football camp, and some words of inspiration.

Coles Catches, Runs; Revis Prevents Same

File Under: Chad Pennington, Darrelle Revis, Justin Miller, Laveranues Coles, Kellen Clemens, Wallace Wright, Brett Ratliff, Kareem Brown, Vernon Gholston, Calvin Pace

This afternoon's practice, the final workout of the Jets' full-squad minicamp, featured the catch of the camp plus an uprising from the first defense.

The catch was turned in by Laveranues Coles on a 7-on-7 pass from Chad Pennington. Coles and CB Justin Miller had some substantial but incidental contact (no flag was thrown), with Miller going down and Coles stumbling coming out of the contact — a… More

Round 1 Well Represented This Morning

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Eric Barton, Shaun Ellis, Brad Smith, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Leon Washington, Jason Pociask, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller

Yes, Vernon Gholston was at his first full-squad practice of any kind this morning, as we reported earlier. But while No. 56 was taking it slower in than he will at training camp, the Jets' other first-rounder with No. 81 was doing a little flying.

TE Dustin Keller, in fact, caught two passes on last year's No. 1 draft pick, the already accomplished starting CB Darrelle Revis.

Keller's first cat… More

Kellen-to-Musa Ends Practice with a Flourish

File Under: Chad Pennington, Eric Mangini, Woody Johnson, Chris Baker, Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, Kris Jenkins, Bubba Franks, Scott Cohen

There were five fascinating images at the Jets’ second minicamp workout this afternoon.

Early in the session, NT Kris Jenkins looked to be in perfect position for an unlikely interception. A Chad Pennington pass intended for Laveranues Coles bounced high into the air and the 6’4”, 360-pounder had a good read on the ball. He must have been thinking six, though, because he completely whiffed at a… More
