File Under: Buffalo Bills, Kent State University, Istanbul

11/05 — We've heard from more than a few of you recently. Here's one hello from a Jets fan halfway around the world who is a doctor, and another in the form of a request from an NFL fan from academia who is preparing to become a doctor.

The Jets fan's name is Gokhan Mamur, and he sent me this email before the Buffalo game.

"I'm a U.S. citizen born in New York five weeks after SB3. Now I reside in Istanbul, Turkey, working as a pediatrician. Obviously, I'm a Jets fan, even though I'm on the other side of the planet and am following the games on NFLGamePass with great pleasure. I follow your articles and want to thank you for such a great job in keeping people like me far away in tune and in touch with the Jets.

"I'll have my Jets cap and Jets T-shirt on while watching the Bills game this weekend with great excitement — we're gonna win! 'Cause we've got heart! One day I dream of being right there at the Meadowlands with Fireman Ed chanting J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!"

I can vouch that on Oct. 31, Gokhan predicted a 26-21 Jets win, which was four points off the actual score, and cracked open an Efes (that's a Turkish beer, for all you domestic folks) in a toast to newyorkjets.com and to the Jets. We'll do the same for you, Dr. Mamur.

The other email I wanted to pass on to our Radar operators is from John Spinda of Kent State, who is asking any interested fans to participate in his doctoral dissertation on, oddly enough, sports fans. Here's his email:

"As an NFL fan, I enjoy the chance to read blogs whenever possible. Recently, I decided to conduct my Ph.D. dissertation at Kent State University on sports fans' (NFL fans') perceptions of each other, as well as winning and losing and how it affects fan behavior. As a part of this, I have decided that I could get much better feedback from NFL fans online than I could ever get from a room full of college students rushing through a survey for class points.

"Therefore, I would like to ask you to assist me by providing a hyperlink to my online study and simply mentioning my study on your blog. Please understand this is non-profit, academic research that will be used for my dissertation, and then potentially journal articles, book chapters and conference presentations. Please feel free to browse (or even take) the questionnaire yourself. I would genuinely appreciate your support and want to thank you for your time."

"David Clowney is no longer on the injury report, jetsfan914. His game status is now a coaching decision."

"Okay Randy you blew the coverage. He was so wide open I thought he was going to put out a lawn chair and crack open a cold one while he waited."
