Game Trivia

■ This was the quickest to 10 wins for the first 26 seasons of franchise history, or until the 1986 team won 10 of its first 11. The '68 and '86 teams are the fastest Jets teams to double-digit wins to this day.

■ Namath's last extensive action of the regular season produced first-quarter TD passes to — who else? — Sauer and Maynard to produce the Jets' largest first-quarter lead of the season.

■ Rookie QB Dewey Warren made the fourth and last start of his short NFL career, and the game plan was conservative as Warren threw seven passes and completed three for 58 yards

Quote-Unquote

RB Bill Mathis: “A buddy of mine was part of the Bengals ownership group. I had met him through people who owned the Yellow Pages out of Dayton, Ohio. We were good friends and I used to travel with him on his boat. He had a yacht and we used it all the time. We went all over Europe and Paris and Rome.”

Quote Then

Bengals head coach Paul Brown: “Namath was magnificent. He has such a finely controlled spin on the ball that he can throw it into the gusts. Most quarterbacks can’t.”

"Mikethe Ex , your not a fan , your call name says it all. You've attached your legacy with the jets and your angry because their shortcomings have in turn reflected negatively on your social standing. I don't care about the majority of negative nancy's, all I care about is 3 hrs of rooting for my team. I'm a winner because I enjoy the game experience jet win or loss. Our time will come."
