09/09 — You can't think of Miami without smiling. It's just a city that screams fun.
And I'm not just talking about South Beach, though I can tell you if you start the night at Mango's and work your way to the Delano, you'll have a memorable evening with plenty of stories. Stories I am not at liberty to discuss here, but it's clear that the party atmosphere of the city erupts in Dolphin Stadium on game day.
Normally our Jets Post Game Live show doesn't involve fans, but we were in for a surprise last season. See, the cramped hallways of Dolphin Stadium forces VIP fans through the same tunnels the players use to access the locker rooms. The same tunnel we use for Jets Post Game Live that airs immediately after each game.
As host Brian Custer tosses to me for my initial live shot, a fun-loving female fan who clearly had too many mojitos became part of the show. She threw her arms around me and made a memorable scene on live TV that would've embarrassed my mother. Had the combination of fine producer Katie Sadler and the woman's husband not pulled her off of me, more damage would've been done. Thank you, Katie.
It's just one of the many eventful postgame shows we've done with the Jets. Our job on Jets Post Game Live is to evaluate the game with the guys at the desk and give you insider access to the players live. It also provides you a nice chance to see exactly how big some of the players are, and each of their particular styles.
Chris Baker's fur coat is in the Jets Post Game Live hall of fame alongside Ray Lucas' 10-button full-vested suit. I'd imagine if Laveranues ever came on, he'd give him a run for his money. Listen, I can fire darts at Ray on this Website because he blasts me on a weekly basis on our air. Especially when I would do interviews with Anthony Clement.
You have to understand Clement is 6'8" — that's a full foot taller than me, and we looked even more ridiculous on the air than it sounds here. The height difference between us forced me to travel with a box to stand on just for Anthony's segment of the show. This is why I love to interview Leon Washington ... we're closer in stature.
But its not all fun and games on these liveshots. You should know that when we're on the road we are usually fighting for space in the team's tunnel with the equipment guys loading the vans and multiple security agents constantly checking our credentials.
And it can be dangerous. Last year in Dallas in the middle of the show I pulled my earpiece out —only the cord came out without the earpiece. Jets VP of Broadcasting Bob Parente had to get the Jets trainers to use the equivalent of needlenose pliers to keep my earpiece from lodging itself against my cerebellum.
See, the guys in the studio never have to worry about the minefield of problems that goes along with being in the field. They get the comforts of a studio with producer Will O'Toole to lead the way. He's kinda like the man behind the curtains pulling the levers. He'll figure out what topics Ray and Adam disagree on and add 'em to the list. Host Brian Custer lights the fuse and the fireworks begin with Ray and Adam.
It is a wonder how Schein landed on a Jets show, considering nearly every week he picks against the Jets. Just as he did last week. And of course it gives Ray a wonderful opportunity to crush him.
Adam is the yin to Ray's yang — they never agree, and sometimes it looks like a fight might break out. When Adam gets fired up about Pennington or any other personal friend of Ray's, the Jersey native shoots him a look like he's about to throw him through the plate glass window. You know Adam should get hazard pay. So should Brian! Perhaps a better seating arrangement would put Mr. Custer BETWEEN the two opinionated rivals.
See what we do to put on a great show? Deflect attacks from disorderly women, overcome earpiece malfunctions and settle disagreements to make JPL the best show possible. Disagreements only make the show better ... that and Chris Baker's fur coat.

Shein speaks nonsense with his nuggets he makes up,but it to is entertaning.Buttle is the only one who knows what he is talking about.About Brady, he talked crap about us last year in interviews, why do we have to be so nice when talking about him?We hate him,so man up and say it.Good for him and the Patriots. That Seymor always tries to hurt our QBs!"

Tue, September 9, 2008 - 12:57pm EDT"I really don't think the Pats will skip a beat. Cassel has been a backup there for 4 years. I think he knows the system and what is expected of him. Its gonna be really tough to beat them ... that being said ... it wont be AS tough since Brady is out. We need to put the kid on his back early and often."

Tue, September 9, 2008 - 1:37pm EDT"Has anyone noticed that most sport shows nowadays are now more about getting two people who disagree on a subject presenting & arguing their points for an hour rather than pure informative media which i think the majority of fans would prefer. Its a shame that the media has run out of ideas on originality & is just going with "you are here" "he is there"... now debate ! Randy, stay true !!! JETS"
Frans'can Said:
Tue, September 9, 2008 - 1:51pm EDT"Uncle Joe, agree with you on the journalism. Buttle is by far the best on that show and has the qualities we need. To all that think that the Pats are still the best in the East. I dont care about that. This is Cassel's 1st game as a starter this year & 2nd stringers wont be coming after him so to Sutton, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK & get him on his back. I'd love to see QB 3 come in after cassel's out"

EVERYONE until N.E. is defeated for the div they are the favorites, give them the respect they EARNED, not deserve. They deserve to be beaten badly, & often. Sorry Mr. Brady, you had a nice run but injuries happen & I hope you heal nicely. GO JETS!!!"
Ken Said:
Tue, September 9, 2008 - 3:57pm EDT"The pressure is definitely on the JETS this week to beat the Pats. If the jets cannot beat New England this week when they have NO Tom Brady and all the money the Jets spent this year on so many key players, including Jet FAVRE. If the Jets cannot beat the Pats with no Tom Brady then the Jets are in big trouble!"

Tue, September 9, 2008 - 4:37pm EDT"I really like the style of this article. I don't care to talk about Brady, not worth mentioning. I am eager to see if Coles proves he should still be on this team, if not we should look to a guy who played in preseason. Come on guys, let's see some B. Smith, and use our TE's in a double tight situation. Baker still looks good, lets use him. What is the status of Clowney? Miller?"

Wed, September 10, 2008 - 12:02am EDT"Schein is an insider but he has a radical view of the NFL & truth be told, he is a diehard GIANTS FAN. Buttle is the best, and who writes STEVE - O's Dialogue, it can kinda cheesy sometimes."

Wed, September 10, 2008 - 6:49am EDT"'observer' i saw a play where i had the same feeling, like the jets didn't want to get a sack. when gholston got close he didn't seem to have any finish and didn't get the sack. their pressure overall didn't seem great but they did get a few sacks. consistency is what's needed which is probably true across the board."

Wed, September 10, 2008 - 6:54am EDT"'supercooljetfan' as to cassell vs brady 'who's to say he can't do the same?' i'll go out on a limb and say i can. that getting tired cliche 'manage the game' comes to mind for cassell because he may win, but hasn't got close to brady's talent."
Xavion Said:
Thu, September 11, 2008 - 12:21pm EDT"Hold on there Joe I dont think anyone feels sorry for Brady... He did Disrespect the JETS this offseason and that is why I wish he wasnt hurt and was playing this Week, I wanted Pace, Thomas, Gholston, Jenkins, Harris to crush him Id have been just fine with them ending his season. But now we have to deal with Excuses when we win. "You only won because Brady was hurt" "
Rick Roucoulet Said:
Fri, September 12, 2008 - 11:54am EDT"Hey XAVION heres the answer to that (JETS won cause Brady didnt play) Well so what Pat fans are saying is the team isnt any good w/out one player? Your only as good as your weakest player, & with that said, I cant think of one JET id replace w/another... So if any Patsys tell you that, tell them to put that in there pipes & smoke it - NO WAIT, thats a line for the 90s M. Irvin or L. Taylor lol lol"
