NFL Suspends RB Jesse Chatman 4 Games

08/30 — The NFL just released this statement on RB Jesse Chatman through a league spokesperson:

"Jesse Chatman of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for the team’s first four regular-season games of 2008 for violating the NFL Policy on Steroids and Related Substances.

"Chatman's suspension begins on Saturday, August 30. He is eligible to return to the Jets’ active roster on Monday, September 29 following the team’s September 28 game against the Arizona Cardinals."

We'll have all the Jets' 22 final cuts/player moves and more on Chatman's situation during and following head coach Eric Mangini's conference call with beat reporters, which is set to begin shortly.

"Details on Chatman are that he tested postitive for a diuretic in his system which can be used to mask steroids and not for steroids themselves. This could also have been used to reduce weight. This also happened at the end of last year. I think if he tested positive for steroids Mangini would have cut him. "

If this guy is this stupid, then he can get himself hurt playing so the NFL has an obligation to ban him.
