File Under: Erik Ainge, Dustin Keller, Kris Jenkins, St. Mary's Hospital
06/26 — The good work of the Jets' rookie class continues.
First-round TE Dustin Keller and fifth-round QB Erik Ainge spent time Wednesday with some of the New York area's most amazing kids when they visited patients at St. Mary's Hospital for Children in Bayside, Queens.
The two — perhaps a dynamic pass-connection duo in the Green & White's future — had the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime for children at St. Mary's who are some of the most sick and seriously injured children in the region.
St. Mary’s is one of the nation’s premier providers of healthcare for children with special needs and life-limiting conditions. The facility provides intensive rehabilitative and specialized medical care to close to 4,000 children each day in the New York metropolitan region and beyond through its family-centered inpatient, home care and community programs. Jenkins Shows His Artsy Side
Big defensive tackle Kris Jenkins was named national spokesperson of the charity Life Pieces to Masterpieces at a reception and fundraiser in his honor on Tuesday at Busboys and Poets in Washington, D.C.
The event was sponsored by Perennial Sports & Entertainment and featured a spoken-word performance by the young men of Life Pieces and an auction of art and memorabilia.
All proceeds from the event benefited Life Pieces to Masterpieces, a non-profit organization committed to lead, guide and influence at-risk youth. Life Pieces to Masterpieces is an arts-based, comprehensive youth development organization. It serves boys and young men, living in the low-income and public housing east of the Anacostia River in Washington.

While Queens was the birthplace, I believe that 2008 marks the 25th year in the Meadowlands, and they played at Shea from 1960-2003(24 yrs). So they have more time in NJ. Similar to the Colts not being from Baltimore anymore. except that LI doesn't have a replacement team."

WOW!!!! you can only hope"

Sat, June 28, 2008 - 3:35pm EDT"QB doesn't matter we need a revamped offense. We need two good TE's, I think we should resign our bruiser of a FB we released last year, then we could use a wing formation with two lead blockers. We could even see leon and jones or leon & brad smith in the backfield. If we can structure better gameplans, we can win more games. Last yr we were pitiful on O. TD's equal wins!!! Anyone have an idea?"
Ira Said:
Sat, June 28, 2008 - 9:51pm EDT"I am giving Chad the edge to win this the starting job. But in reality the offense on paper has been built to run the ball big time. So either QB should have success. GO JETS!!!!"
Tom Spicer Said:
Sun, June 29, 2008 - 9:32am EDT"If Chad wins the job the Jets will do no better than 8 & 8. If Kellen wins the job the Jets will be anywhere from 8 & 8 to 11-5 GO WITH THE UPSIDE !"

Sun, June 29, 2008 - 12:24pm EDT"Id like Kellen Clemens to win, he had more wins even tho coles was injurerd, the line was injured for him more then it was for chad. Honestly, chad isnt what he used to be, hes injured to the point of where hes nowhere, chads better off being kellens mentor, oh besides the fact that kellen clemens has been doing better in the camps, and practiced accuracy the whole off season KC for the win JETS!"
Dunnie Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 7:40am EDT"I don;t think accuracy was KCs biggest issue. He looked lost back there last year. He had no pocket presence and did not read the D properly most of the time. He also displayed happy feet throughout most of the season. I think Balitmore was his best performance in that regard. But since he got pounded for it he seemed nervous all season after that. I don;t see much upside to KC at this point."
Ira Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 8:47am EDT"Mike Sando of ESPN wrote an article about the Jets and said Chad's ankle was injured pretty bad and that probably had an effect on his throwing. So lets just see how this camp plays out. If Kellen has taken the next step and beats out Chad well thats great for the team. If not Chad still is a QB who can get the Jets into the playoffs. This is going to be a great camp to watch. GO JETS!!!!"
Alan Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 9:38am EDT"I dont dislike chad either, but hes had TOO MANY injuries, and KC has been doing better this whole minicamp, also he was throwing badly behind a horrible offensive line, I think KC will be a great QB for us in the future, hes a young QB, but his third year and starts under his belt, I think hes ready to take the NFL by storm, but no doubt will this be a heated QB battle, GO JETS!!!!!"
Larry Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 11:53am EDT"Tom Spicer. 8-8 with CP is a gift due to his physical shortcomings and tendancy to reinjure himself. Any head coach we play only has to go back to game film from the year before last. We should be greatly improved in several areas this year, but with CP our playbook is limited to that of a high school team. We are just to predictable with CP and it showed at the end of 06-07. We go nowhere with CP"
John Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 12:03pm EDT"Remember KC outplayed Chad in pre-season last year repeatedly hooking up with Justin McCarreins. In the regular season they both KC and JM were in the nowhere zone."
BobbyD Said:
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 5:10pm EDT"Randy, have you seen Brad Smith under center at all during practice? I know we have a lot of QB's, but I hope they give him the 5th, 6th, 7th spot reps at the position. A record setting QB on the roster and he still does everything but QB. With our coaching staff, surely they could find a way to give him reps;particularly if someone else gets the open WR spot."
Chachi B Said:
Tue, July 1, 2008 - 12:12pm EDT"I'm a big Chad fan but at this point. I want whoever is going to help us WIN. I blame last years fault on coaching staff and Offensive Cordinator. We need more creativity in the plays like we had two years ago. (Mangini's first year) I have high hopes this year for us. I want to see how hard we played last year in the Pittsburgh game is how we play every game this year. No excuses Jets #1 in 08."
TAtlas Said:
Tue, July 1, 2008 - 3:24pm EDT"Now as much as I like Chad and I am a die hard Jet fan it is time for a change...Either start Kellen or Ainge. I mean come on how many chances do you give a guy? Any other team in the NFL would have dumped Chad like I said I don't dislike the guy I think he was great but he evidently hasn't done anything that impressive in the last few years. "
Jay Said:
Thu, July 3, 2008 - 10:46am EDT"I don't really think there is a need for a QB competition. Kellen is the best QB on the squad so he should play. The reason there is a competition is because the JETS are having a hard time realising chad can't do it anymore, There are no great QB's in this years draft so keep him for the next two years then draft the franchise QB."
Smitty38 Said:
Thu, July 3, 2008 - 10:12pm EDT"1st off let's start out by not bashing Mangini. I'm sure the COACH has a plan when it comes to chosing a QB fella and who ever he make the starter AS a J-E-T-S fan you have to ride with whoever it is......SUPPORT HIM NOT BRING HIM DOWN ! LET'S GO JET' S "
JP Said:
Tue, July 8, 2008 - 9:08pm EDT"God Bless those kids - I am happy that these guys are volunteering for a great cause. As for the talk of QBs, I saw Ainge perform in one of those Senior games and he looked tight in the pocket. He completed 62.6 % of his passes Senior year with over 3500 yards passing. He did suffer some injuries during his career but at least he is young insurance. Let us see what any QB can do with an O-line"
John Said:
Fri, July 11, 2008 - 9:42am EDT"It totally amazes me how there is this much support for Kellen. He was beyond poor last season, he got hurt, he threw 10 interceptions and only 5 TD's, he got Coles hurt by underthrowing a wide open Flea flicker. Supporters for KC can blame a bad o-line and a limited playbook because of Chad. Lets not blame him underthrowing, overthrowing, no play-action, and showing no game sense whatsoever."
