File Under: Abram Elam, older brother, Donald Elam

05/10 — The New York Jets family received tragic news Friday when it was reported that safety Abram Elam lost his third sibling to gunfire since 1987.

Donald Elam, Abram's older brother, was shot to death a mile from his home in Riviera Beach, Fla. According to the Palm Beach Post, Elam, 33, was found shortly after someone called 911 about 12:30 p.m. to report a man had been shot. Elam, who suffered a gunshot wound to his lower back, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he died. Palm Beach County's Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating.

"Abram learned this afternoon that his brother has been killed," the New York Jets said in a statement. "The circumstances of his death are still unclear. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Abram and his family."

Clinkscales on SNY

Joey Clinkscales, the Jets' director of college scouting, is the guest on SNY's "Jets Nation" that airs this morning at 11:30 a.m. Clinkscales will be talking about the draft and the Jets' rookie minicamp from last weekend. Next week's "Jets Nation" will feature Pro Bowl fullback Tony Richardson.
