File Under: Kellen Clemens, Pope Benedict XVI, Nationals Stadium, Washington Catholics
04/18 — Pope Benedict landed in New York at 9:33 Friday morning, but Jets quarterback Kellen Clemens must still feel like he’s walking in the clouds. Clemens, on hand with his wife Nicole for the Papal Mass on Thursday at Nationals Stadium in Washington, D.C., witnessed an incredible sight when the Pope delivered a kiss to his infant daughter, Kate.

“My eyes welled up with tears — it was such a moving experience. I don’t really know if we fully understand just how special it was,” Clemens said. “That’s a direct descendant of Peter, and there he is giving a blessing and a kiss to our child. … To have the day unfold the way it did was just an awesome experience.”
The Clemens family received tickets to the mass because Kellen is a member of Catholic Athletes for Christ. Kellen and Nicole were seated on the field during the celebration and the Pope walked toward them as he exited.
“The minute he came over I just kind of stood there in shock,” Nicole said. “He traced the sign of the cross on her forehead and had given her this blessing. I was absolutely amazed and then for him to stop, lean down and kiss her, I got goose bumps immediately.”
Little Kate was actually born on Good Friday and she celebrates her four-week birthday today. There is certainly much to celebrate for the Clemens family as Benedict XVI concludes his American visit here in New York.
“It’s more than we could have ever hoped for,” Clemens said. “It was such an awesome experience that we will certainly treasure forever and she’s definitely going to hear about growing up, definitely.”

You want versatility not only did he have 15 1/2 sacks he also caught 2 TD passes. You blow 20 million on Pace sign a real football player! Need ideas it's Herm man ask him who he wants. To start I say offer Ellis and D-Rob plus a draft pick. "

If they want D-Rob than thats fine, but we dont have too many picks to spare to begin with. I then got to wondering if JA would transition to a 3-4, but he is such a beast i'm sure it wouldnt be a problem. MCF might be the best guy on the board that we dont need"

Sun, April 20, 2008 - 9:38am EST"Hey Zartan you did predict 30 TD's for Chad didn't you? I am trying to get more weapons for him. Cedric I am a football fan not just a Jet fan so I can keep it real. After last year I have a right to be critical of Tangini there are some questionable moves being made here so we will see. Damone, Jenkins played in a 4-3 we'll see if he works in the 3-4. Allen is a playmaker that's what we need."
Dunnie Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 12:36pm EST"J Allen is someone we dont NEED. He is a really good player. However only two pro bowl years. I would rather keep our picks and draft youth to fill the numerous holes we have."
MikeMc Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 12:43pm EST"Braeden, I'll sign for that mock draft right now. Newsday has an article today about Mcfadden being the bust of the draft, read it.Kellen is such a class guy and so is Chad , its hard to root against either one, Popes blessing or not."
Dunnie Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 12:51pm EST"That being said ... I do think Frank has a point about playmakers. We do need a playmaker or two. Especially on offense. I honestly hope we can find one in this years draft. But I would rather have the disgruntled C Johnson than J Allen. I gotta say this year I am really getting bored of these multi millionaires DEMANDING more than their current crazy contracts. Shuddup and play ball."
Andrew in Tucson Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 1:52pm EST"Hopefully some of that blessing will rub off on the Jets this year. Everybody is saying that Gholston is going to be a bust because he was a none factor in the 2 bcs championship games. All kinds of mock drafts have us getting mcfadden. I could live with that pick he has great speed and with locker room the Jets have I don't think they will have any trouble keeping him in line. Get the playmaker!"
Andrew in Tucson Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 2:00pm EST"frank dude allen is dui machine he only wants out of kc so he can rack up a few more dui charges and not get fire by his football team. And he is sure not worth giving ellis and d-rob and a draft pick. INSANE! Let the football people make their moves! Pace and Jenkins will kick some major tail this year. Did you even see pace play one game last year? The guy is going to be a beast for our team."
zartan Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 2:25pm EST"never said Chad would have 30 TDs but if he starts ill agree with it.DMC a bust. im starting to believe so.in Randys' previous post i said we should draft the guy but relized its the ppl who have Adrian Petterson fresh in their minds saying pick McFadden. if you have any questions about top 10 pick, then dont pick em.DMC legs arm just too small."
CEDRIC Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 3:13pm EST"Frank, Theres a difference between Critical and Negative, im a football fan myself, a Big one, and you would be even more upset if they made NO offseason moves, and you and I actually agree on NOT taking Mcfadden, everymove a team makes is questionable, if we pick up J allen then we would pick up an Alcoholic so NO move is a sure move. Chad Johnson wants a "Win Now" team, so we gotta wait n see."
MikeMc Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 4:17pm EST"Dolphinfan4eva, I'd say you have alot more to worry about on your team, like keeping Beck upright.KC's arm has already been blessed, he'll be fine."

Ira Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 8:04pm EST"Has anybody thought how Jones might feel if the Jets ended up drafting McFadden? He will feel like he was back in Chicago all over again when they took Benson. I heard a lot of talk on the radio this weekend and even my man Jody McDonald is starting to say they'll have to take him if he is there at #6.He would be the highest profile player drafted since they picked Namath. Hope Davis picks him."
Frank Said:
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:12pm EST"Dunnie, look I have been saying since the end of the season we should try and trade for C. Johnson I'm on board with that. J. Allen is 26 how many pro bowls would you like him to have already? He can also play as a change up on offense like Vrabel does in NE. He caught 2 TD passses last year. We need some dynamic playmakers not a bunch of robots. Ira I'm praying with you brother please no McFumble"
Ira Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 6:57am EST"Jody did tell me yeterday that out of 41 Rb's who carried the ball over 100 times last year Jones at .06 was ranked # 41. I didn't think that as a fair judgement because of the problems with the o-line and offense in general. With that fixed now i would expect Jones to get near that 4.0 yd per carry which he avg. from 03-06 before coming to the Jets. He is good enough for the Jets to win with."
evan Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 8:32am EST"Damone, you should really check things out before trying to make points to others-- case in point, Jared Allen and Calvin Pace are the same exact weight.. so... there goes your point... I'm with you 100% Ira.. Jones is a solid back and Leon is a great compliment. I understand the theory of best player available, and no one wants the pick I think we have to take him, but its not the best course."
Wilhelm III Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 10:46am EST"Ira, a very good point. Most NYJ fans have voted McFadden as their top pick at no 6 whereas I honestly see those who do believe he should be the choice more as "Madden 08 fans." With the new O line, TJ and LW should get us into a top 15 running team again provided the D puts us in THE POSITION to run the ball. McFadden would be a huge mistake and I am for Def. in the 1st and WR Hardy in the 2nd !"

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 11:05am EST"Just when I think my boy Frank has a clue I read he want to go get J Allen? Frank are you awake? Couple of questions.. Do you realize we play a 3-4?? I know you hate that we do but we do my friend. Allen is 4-3 DE. Allen also happens to in the NFL substance abuse program (multiple offender) Love your trade offer...an old DE Ellis and D-Rob that cant pass a physical plus a pick. No Kool-Aid for U!"
Frank Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 12:49pm EST"Ah Drew my boy is back. Let's see Jenkins starred in a 4-3 right? Ellis is a 4-3 end who has done absolutely nothing the last few years. D-Rob Mr. Castaway thanks to Tangini is going to get cut or maybe a 6th rounder if someone is stupid enough. So what are we giving up Drew???? I also said a draft pick no sure on what just yet? Also said explore it and see if they can make it happen."

Tom Spicer Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:20pm EST"That is the problem with you guys you think Chad & Leon & T Jones are these great guys they are AVG NFL players THE JETS ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM JUST START KELLEN DRAFT MCFADDEN & TAKE A CORNER IN ROUND 2"

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:38pm EST"Oh God here we go please Spicer don't get started on McFumble again I'm begging. By the way I never gt a chance to comment on you calling me Franky Boy? So you do have a human side! However don't get too familiar with me got it?"
CEDRIC Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:58pm EST"SPICER, Leon is 202lbs to be exact, and you cant say what a guy is capable on doing until he shows u he cant, and if they spit time between Jones, LJ, Chatman its not AVERAGE, its PRODUCTIVE, lets be ABOVE average at QB then lets talk...Im NOT SOLD on D-Mac, but a CB in Round 2 would be great. Dont hurt him FRANK LOL"

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 3:11pm EST"Frank, i wouldnt Dare do such a Thing!! I could back and forth on your Negative Post ALLDAY( and win), but it seems you'd rather pick on Drew and Tom, But I do agree with you on some of the things that you say, its just the way you say it sounds like you hate the Franchise sometimes...Analogy: U dont call your kid stupid, U just tell them to study harder..."
Tom Spicer Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 4:17pm EST"McFadden is the most talented athlete in the draft His selection is the biggest drama in the draft I have visions of Jet wins looking at McFadden's ability to break long touchdown runs If McFadden slips to 6 imagine the scene at Radio City Music Hall Jets fans will be screaming for the Jets to take him McFadden would add speed and explosiveness to our O McFadden was a human highlight reel a STUD "
Drew Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 5:07pm EST"Did Cedric just say I get picked on by Frank?? Thats somewhat funny..... For all of the negative crap Frank spews it is actually fun to read some of his ridiculous posts. 6 out of 10 times he has a valid point but the other 4 times are flat out foolish.....As to your Allen trade...I am still trying to figure out why you would want a substance abuse guy who dosent fit our system. Puzzling again!"
Frank Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 6:54pm EST"Drew it's great to have you back. Nice try justifying your stupidity. I make a whole lot more sense than you like and that iritates you. I've got a novel idea how about sticking to facts and ideas and slow your poison down. I know this is hard for you to understand but everything and every player doesn't fit into a neat little box."
CEDRIC Said:
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 7:28pm EST"Drew, I mean Frank "picks on" you in an endearing way lol...you both have valid points in your discussions, but yeah Frank can get a little foolish, Stud or not Any Pick involves the same Risk, We Spending Money on Potential not Proof, I cant wait until they adjust and lower the cap on the rookie pool, it makes so much sense."
Drew Said:
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 10:30am EST"Here are the facts Frank....We are not going to get J Allen because he is a player with sustance problems, he will cost more than you or the Jets are willing to give and yes all players dont fit in a little box "trade" for not "sign" a guy like that. So he can go from 15 sacks to 4 sacks and then you can yell that Tangini ruined him? Relax bud and think of another original idea"
Frank Said:
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 12:08pm EST"Ok Drew I respect your opinion...now your making sense about Allen. Your right he could implode but I don't think he will. It looks like the Vikings are giving away the house to get him anyway."
Drew Said:
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 12:25pm EST"Holy Crap....Frank thinks I made sense and he respects my opinion in the same post.....Please dont have a heart attack when Allen goes to the Vikings and dominates in his natural position and with that big DL. They are taking a much lower risk than we would. "
Frank Said:
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 1:45pm EST"Drew I always throw a dog a bone! Your welcome."
