File Under: Darrelle Revis, Brad Smith, two-minute, Laveranues Coles, Sean Ryan

06/01 — The weather was a little more humid but not nearly as hot as Thursday for today's OTA practice, the focus of which Eric Mangini said would be on the Jets' two-minute offense and defense. Whether it was in two-minute, third-down or red-area, a number of interesting pass plays indicated the O might be ahead of the D.

Early on, Laveranues Coles did some nice short work. On one play, Coles turned into a DB to swat away a Chad Pennington pass that would have been intercepted by CB Andre Dyson.

This will be a point of emphasis for the Jets coaches. Mangini again gave props to Justin McCareins in today's news conference for a play he made at Thursday's practice when he also broke up an interception — something fans will remember he didn't do on rapid-fire third-quarter picks thrown by Pennington at Green Bay last year.

Coles then made a nice catch on a comeback route in front of Dyson.

That set the stage for some long completions: Pennington to Brad Smith down the deep middle and to McCareins on a go route off a pump fake, both with CB David Barrett in coverage, and Kellen Clemens on a deep middle ball that TE Sean Ryan bobbled and dropped. But Ryan rebounded with a nice grab on a deep out from Clemens past LB Cody Spencer.

Leonard Peters' trademark long hair waved in the breeze as the undrafted free agent blitzed off the corner against Marques Tuiasosopo, who still got off a short completion to Smith.

On punt returns, Justin Miller was back with rookie Darrelle Revis and Leon Washington. Revis showed his remarkable shiftiness on one return, the kind of moves that made five players miss him on his highlight-video return vs. West Virginia last season.

Nick Mangold was again on the exercycle, and he was joined on the bike by three others, all from the defensive side of the ball, for some portions of the workout — Matt Chatham, David Bowens and Hank Poteat.

As the two-minute phase of practice kicked in, the music began to blare. What else? "Pressure" by Billy Joel.

More to come after the end of practice around 12:30 and the on-field interview sessions to follow.

"Were there any O plays involving Baker? I think alot of fans are saying he has to be used alot more this up coming season. We all know that he has good hands , just doesn't get thrown to enough."

"Well about Chris Baker. I like Chris (Baker) but i think that we need to look into signing a more athletic TE. Chris has amazing hands but there's no Athletic ablility there. thats why the ball never gets thrown his way, because he's never open unless its inside the five yard line."
