11/01 — Bad blood was already flowing when both teams were warming up. It appeared that Jets S Kerry Rhodes pushed Dolphins LB Joey Porter after some verbal sparring. The incident happened on the Jets' sideline, but it was on the Dolphins side of midfield.
And before Rhodes jogged back towards the Jets' side of the field, he took a swipe (not a punch) at LB Cameron Wake. But there were no fights and both teams are back in the locker room. As expected, the chatter has been constant and Porter never gives his mouth a break. When a camera was filming Porter, Jets LB Bart Scott mocked him by pretending he was cranking an old-time camera at a film house.
Priceless!
The Jets will reach the season's midway point in a few hours but not before a huge divisional clash against the Dolphins here at the Meadowlands.
Not only do the Jets want to get revenge on the Dolphins after a 31-27 Monday Night loss down in South Florida, but they'd like to move to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the AFC East. Conversely, a Dolphins "W" would send New York's AFC representative to 4-4 (after a 3-0 start) and just 1-3 in the East.
This is a big one folks. We'll be back at 1:00 p.m. A reminder here — this chat is family friendly!

"scjoe, the Dolphins last swept the home-and-home in 2003 and before that in 1997. From 1998 to present, the Jets have won 17 of 23 over the 'Fins."
Howie D Said:
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 10:03pm ET"I've watched this rivalry over the years and generally both teams seem to go in opposite directions after colliding - loser end up with losing season, winner with winning record, so yes, it's a must win and the key our success is to knock Ronnie Brown out of the game. D must floor him. If he is out or has a bad game JETS will scale and fry the fish! Oh, please shotty, burn their secondary too!"

Jason Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 3:12pm ET"We need more drives like that last one, when we went up 13. Defense seems to be getting the job done but the offense needs more strike's to the receivers. "

Sun, November 1, 2009 - 3:15pm ET"WOW! and another Dolphins kick return. i think that might have broken a record. GOOD JOB Special Teams, Way to keep it mean GREEN!!!! "

Sun, November 1, 2009 - 3:40pm ET"This is our house, and this is what the Dolphins are doing to us. No chance for us to ever going to the super bowl. If Namath was dead, he would be rolling in his grave. Way to go J.E.T.S"

Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:09pm ET"Nice of the refs to blow the 2 point conversion call. An illegal shift?! Nobody moved! We would have been able to kick a field goal and tie this game. Terrible call."
sal Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:13pm ET"8 pass plays on two drives one in 1st qtr and the final drive. What TJ and TR cant get 9 yards, Last game for me till Shotenheimer is gone! cause they can have all the talent, but w/ a genius like him and a rookie head coach and a rookie QB who may be very good one day,the team will go no where They should feel embarrased"
John Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:20pm ET"Another way for the Jets to break our hearts. I hate to say it but SAME OLD JETS!"
bleedingreen Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:25pm ET"I have never been so upset about a game in my life. Please fire shotty!!!! Throwing when we should of been running the ball. Special teams looked brutal. We should of blown them out. We always find a way to lose. There goes the post season. All i want for Christmas is as shotty sent packing.this guy is clueless..How he made it into the nfl is beyond me. and losing like that before a bye week hurts"
mie Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:26pm ET"What a mistake starting Sanchez! The Jets gave up the whole draft for him basically. This team will be average for a very long time. Paper Tigers! Same ole Jets!"
Ed in Tucson Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:40pm ET"Once again they beat our strength. Special teams lost this game. Can we get a list of all the ST stars that are injured? Thanks. This really hurts. At midpoint of season I guess we have to acknowledge that we're playing this season for the kid to learn to play QB in NFL. MS was adequate after he picked it up in 2nd half. But a star QB would've won this game despite the -14 ST points."
OriginalJetFan Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:53pm ET" been watchig since 65 abd this was first for me , losing to 2 100yd runbacks and a fumble td. 2nd half was good Offense and defense ...what can you say? "
TonyR Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:57pm ET"What a frustrating game this was to watch as a fan, must have been even tougher for the team. They do everything just about right only to lose the game to a special teams debacle"
Anonymous Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:06pm ET"This is exactly why we need to pass MORE. The run doesn't open up unless you pass and vice versa. Atrocious calls going for 2, that was a bone head move by coaching staff. We could have easy pulled off a victory in OT. And a big "Thank You" special teams for a well deserved loss. Take Woodhead out of kick coverages, he is obviously not a defensive minded player."
Jets Fan Since '64 Tom Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:10pm ET"Dream on if you think KC ever could've done as well as MS today, Ed. And when you give up 2 TDs on kicks, you lose. Whoever said the Jets run when they should pass and vice-versa had it right today. I'll read the interviews later but I don't get a running team NOT running the ball 4 times at 1:56 - eat the clock, keep the D off the field, TD at about :30. Oh well, life after Scotty will be better."
Jets Fan Since '64 Tom Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:15pm ET"And before you say we passed at 1:56 'cause we don't have Leon and SG fumbled, is it against team policy for TRich to carry the ball in the clutch? At this point I seriously wonder if Schotty can get the best out of our guys and if Rex knows enough to or is ready to challenge him or help him out. 4-4 at the bye isn't bad considering but if I could make one trade it would be Schotty for his father."
Strauss Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:20pm ET"EA, I still have hope. Rex Ryan and Coach Pettine definitely showed dominant defense! Dominant Offense shown by Schotty! No fake punts, no aggressive special teams, missed tackles cost the game! J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! We're all disappointed, but our ''one-game seasons'' continue.. We need to have confidence. Let's get REX on a live chat with us this SUNDAY--bye week!"
Jets Fan Since '64 Tom Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:41pm ET"Sal, agree with you about Schotty -- who in their right mind wouldn't? -- but MS made some passes today that no Jet QB save Favre has in years. Is it his fault that Scotty doesn't know enough to run it in at the end and use up the clock, which any high school OC wouldn't done in a heartbeat? This guy is seriously bad news and I think that's majorly why the Jets O AS A WHOLE is so inconsistent."
Jeremy Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:43pm ET"When is Shotty going to be on the hot seat?? I'm absolutely disgusted by the play calling. What happened to play action, screens, delayed runs etc...JETS go to the same plays with no creativity! It is so predictable it's disgusting. Never in my imagination thought Special Teams would cost the JETS a game! Penalties are killing this team. Are the JETS really that undisciplined??"
Jets Fan Since '64 Tom Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:50pm ET"And by the way, Ed, are you serious with this remark about what "a star QB" would've done? I guess you think "star QBs" are born that way instead of forged by tough games like today. Anyone who thinks KC should've been in today instead of MS is either blind or the most delusional Jets fan alive. A few years from now when Schotty's long gone and MS is in the Pro Bowl, you won't even remember today."
Bart Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:09pm ET"MS hats off to you..we are fine, 12-4 we win the division. Get some rest man."
RH Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:13pm ET"Sorry guys, but all I see is an average football team with a not ready for prime time coaching staff! Been a Jet fan all my life. Life is winding down now and I think I won't ever see a Championship again. Hard to keep saying we'll get 'em next year, over and over again! No discipline & no heart, = another losing season. Best of luck Jets fans, I just can't do it anymore. "
Ray Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:28pm ET"It is just so depressing that every time we lose it is something different. One week it's the offense, then the defense, today it was the special teams. Love how the D played with no Jenkins. This team is destined for 8-8."
Jimmer Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:30pm ET"How dare some of you call yourselves JETS fans! Shotty kept us in this game with awesome playcalling. Sanchez played as good as any rookie could. It WAS NOT THE OFFENSE'S FAULT! The defense was superb. Greene gave up a fumble for a TD. Oh well, it happens. But we gave up 2 KOR for TD's. I see nobody calling for that coaches head,,,,,, I never thought I'd say it, but ST lost this game. RIP"
njdevil316 Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:39pm ET"Sorry to see you go RH.... Very impressive game by the offense and defense but this just goes to show how important special teams are.. I look forward to a balanced game by all three when we return from our bye... Rex will make corrections and get this turned around. Go Jets!!!!"
Mike Jet Vet Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 7:13pm ET"Are You kidding me if we kck theextra points instead of going for 2 twice even with tthe incompendend play calling we still have a chance to win thats on coaching Rex ..Like I said this team isn't what you all though it was makes me sick as usual SAME OLD JETS no doubt about it PLayoffs LOL thats a joke ..What happened 2 the 5-0 run how bout 1-4 again the jokes of the NFL"
Robert from HP Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 7:26pm ET"I was at the game today...just like I've been for the last 35 years. You can change the coach(es), the QB(s), somethings never change - good teams win these games, bad teams lose them. I always felt today we would lose - maybe it's the last 40 years of frustration - and, guess what, in the end it was the SAME OLD JETS!!!"
Jetsfan sence 64 Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 7:39pm ET"Shotty"s got to go he's to young and doesn't know how to grind it out. Marty could never finish eather"
Ray Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 8:36pm ET"Ex, I'm not ripping on you here cause I definitely understand what your saying about the XP's, but in reality if we had kicked the first time then Miami wouldn't have gone for two after their TD so it still would have worked out the same unless we had made both of those two pointers."
Jets Fan Since '64 Tom Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 8:38pm ET"Jimmer, ST won't lose you more than a game a year like this, but Schotty's weird OC approach when we're only supposed to be last year's Ravens Lite on O and D has already lost us more than that. Ray, my friend and I were talking about what you say when it was only 3-3 but getting all parts working every Sunday takes several years. 8-8 would be fine given our player and coaching problems this year."
Vincent Said:
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 10:30pm ET"I am devastated that this season is just like the last, & the one before that, & the one before that...and so on. But no can dare say I am not a loyal Jet. Just becoz I want my team to be the best and stick with them when they are not (and want/expect better) does not make me or any of us disloyal for being upset. Maybe we are just sick of waiting and empty promises and little ever changing."
Rick Roucoulet Said:
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 7:36am ET"There was a comment above in the chat section which has totally hit home: "THESE JETS CAN TOTALLY TAKE THE LIFE RIGHT OUT OF YOU." When it was all said & done & it was over, My body felt what it must feel like after giving birth (Just soooo drained). Sanchez has got to stop showing those emotions on his face after a loss (SENDS A BAD MESSAGE TO HIS TEAM & FANS) Oh! & good message to next opponents"
Alex Said:
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 9:17am ET"Jets really need to look at the Head Coaching job, too much talk not enough results on the Field! There are a lot of Good HC's out of work right now, maybe Woody needs to open up the checkbook for one with experience instead of taking a gamble on a cordinator! Truth is we have not had a Great Coaching staff since Parcells, now they are out coaching us in Miami, and doing it with less talent!"
Row Said:
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 1:46pm ET"I made the statement that we were leaving a lot of good ST's players at home. This was a bad decision by Rex. I understand there was a punch thrown, but they made the tackles, they stayed in their lanes. We were outclassed on ST's today! Sanchez stepped up in the pocket, made some throws today. Also missed some throws too. Schotty had a great gameplan, he didn't score 30 points for the other team."
Anonymous Said:
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 3:04pm ET"J.E.T.S Jets jets jets, It always the same. Its like when Richard Todd Threw That interception on the goal line to A.J Dewey , They always tease us than boom crushed."
Tom from Bricktown Said:
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 7:11pm ET"it was bill simpson at the goal line, a.j. duey intercepted at the 35"
