10/23 — You’ve seen the New York Titans white jerseys on JetsShop.com, and the Jets will don those classic throwbacks for the first time Sunday in Oakland. This will be the start of a two-week Jets run in the Titans road uniforms — white tops and gold pants with navy and gold trim. The “new” throwbacks will also make a Meadowlands appearance on Nov. 1 when the Dolphins pay a visit.
“I like ‘em. They pop,” said WR Jerricho Cotchery back in the summer when the Jets introduced the white tops to the public. “You can’t do anything but just stare at them. They’re nice-looking jerseys. I think they complement the [gold] pants well. I like them better than the blue.”
The Jets are celebrating their 50th season in 2009 and have worn a patch on their uniforms all season. They also donned an AFL patch in their first throwback contest, a 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 27, and that AFL mark will be on their jerseys the next two weeks.
“I like wearing the different jerseys. It makes you appreciate all the guys that were before us,” said Cotchery, who unfortunately has a hamstring injury and won’t be making the West Coast trip this weekend. “You see them around the league, but I love wearing our jerseys. It’s a completely different look than our regular jerseys.”
“The white’s hot,” added S Kerry Rhodes.
White-hot to start the season, the Jets have cooled and hope to break their three-game losing streak this weekend against an old AFL rival. In 18 previous regular-season appearances at either Oaktown or L.A., New York’s AFC representative has won just five times as Raider guests.
White is Right at JetsShop Madison Avenue
If you purchase a white Titans jersey at JetsShop Madison Avenue on Monday, you’ll receive two tickets to the Jets home game vs. the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 20. Chris Pierce, our senior director of merchandise, informed me that the Madison Avenue store will open at 10 a.m. and this special promotion will continue while supplies last.
Cotchery and Clowney Continue Charity Run
Both Jerricho Cotchery and David Clowney scored this past Monday night in the community. While Cotchery hosted his second annual “Tailgate with the Pros” at the ESPNZone in Times Square, his fellow receiver held his first-ever fundraising event — "Bowling with the New York Jets" — at Jersey Lanes in Linden, N.J.
Cotchery, whose evening featured comedy from Michael Jr. and included some Monday Night Football watching, was happy with the event and is excited about the direction of The Cotchery Foundation.
“It’s progressing really well. The things we were hoping to get done at the beginning are starting to come to fruition as far as the mentoring programs and things of that nature,” he said. “It’s been going really well. The camps have always gone well, but the mentoring program is something we really feel strongly about.”
Clowney, who will again be in the starting lineup this week, had a great turnout from his teammates and rookie Shonn Greene’s 169 score led all the players.
“The whole event was really outstanding, and I was almost in tears because of the support I received from my teammates, all showing up like they did,” he said. “The event would not have been an event without the players there. But it was a total success and it meant a lot to me to have that support from the players as friends.
“This will be an annual event. As long as I’m playing football in New York, I’ll keep doing it.”

Bob Said:
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 3:36pm ET"These Titans Uniforms do not reflect back on the New York Jets franchise history at all. The legacy of our franchise as the NY JETS are the true "throwback" white uniforms that Matt Snell, Gerry Philbin, Larry Grantham, Randy Beverly, Johnny Sample, Emerson Boozer, and Joe Namath and all of our Super Bowl Champions wore the day we beat the Colts 16-7. These are the true "throwback" uniforms."

Fri, October 23, 2009 - 3:49pm ET"Well, it could be worse, they could be wearing those blue ones. Anyway, this Oakland game coming up scares me. I fear that they will go with the same game plan that just has not worked recently. They need to get the ball to Leon on screens and dump off's along with the traditional running plays, and more importantly they need to get the ball to Clowney on slants and fly's. If not ??...Jets 13-6"

Fri, October 23, 2009 - 5:22pm ET"these awful jerseys need to be buried somewhere maybe thrown in a ocean with weights attached to them to never be seen again nothing is more terrible then those broncos uniforms though"
Donal Said:
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 6:55pm ET"If Dustin Keller gives the same lackadaisical performance against Oakland that he gave against Buffalo last week, then Ryan should sit him down, as Mangini did last season. Also, Ryan needs to pay more attention to and have more input with the offense."
BobbyD Said:
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 8:02pm ET"I don't care if the Dolphins won or not. Their orange outfits are the most hideous things I have ever seen. Any jets uniform blows those away. Maybe the Jets got physically sick just looking at them;maybe that's why they lost!!!!!"
Russ Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 1:56am ET"Please just wear the green and white! That is why they are called GANG GREEN! Go JETSSSSSSSSSS!"
Gregg from CA Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 2:20am ET"Yo, Bob - I hear ya! Looks like a version of the St Looie Lambs colors, and has no place in "Jets" annals... however, THIS year it's not about Jets' history, but AFL history, so although I thought they were terribly inappropriate LAST year, I can live with them for the 50th anniversary thing. Now, as for NEXT year, DUMP THE DURN THINGS!"
Ray Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 2:49am ET"How many times do you idiots have to be told to figure this out. It's the 50th Anniversary of the original AFL. We were the Titans at that time. These uni's reflect that team. Even if these weren't our standard throwbacks we would still be wearing these this year. This celebration isn't the 46th Anniversary of the Original NY Jets. Think the Broncos enjoy wearing those rodeo clown outfits?"
jetsmandan Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 11:11am ET"These jersey's are awful! I forget im watching the ny jets when they wear these things. They were the titans for only two years there is no need to wear ny titan jerseys."
Future Jet Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 11:23am ET"A. I like them they are pretty good jerseys B. at least they are better than the bronco's ones C. who cares bout the jerseys lets get more wins here"
Hogan Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 1:35pm ET"U R all WRONG. It is Imp. to honor the past even if the name changed, and the UNI's r great once you see them in person(blues). The players look bigger and more intimidating."
Rick Roucoulet Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 4:36pm ET"It doesnt matter to me one way or the other. Although their win % is up when they wear these unis I do believe (FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE SUPERSTITIOUS) - & then maybe after this year (50th) they will start wearing the kelly green/white unis to honor the 80s SACKEXCHANGE???"
GMazz Said:
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 7:24pm ET"the only thing worse then watching the Jets in these is watching the Mets in thier Black game jerseys......stick with the Green and White....it's the JETS not the Titans-thier in Tenn."
whateverdude Said:
Sun, October 25, 2009 - 12:13am ET"two games in a row!!! god they look like a college team in that crap!! I will never understand why the jets insist on NOT wearing the sharpest uni in the league EVERY week!"

Sun, October 25, 2009 - 5:32am ET"They have a good record in the Titans unis but I hate looking at blue and gold.. that is not my Jets and hopefully after this season they don't have to wear those ever again.. BAD!!"
Gary Said:
Sun, October 25, 2009 - 7:23am ET"ugh... these throwbacks are a joke, it's just a ploy to get more money. They are not the NY Titans anymore so stop making the Jets wear these stupid uniforms! Great, 50 years of existence... if you're going to celebrate anything, maybe it should be Namath and the 68-69 Jets... the only super bowl they have had... No one cares about the NY Titans... if you own one of those jerseys you're a sap..."
Scooter Said:
Sun, October 25, 2009 - 12:21pm ET"I agree. Enough already with the Titans "stuff". In 2013, celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the "JETS", wear the 63 Throwback helmets and jerseys. Never again with the TITANS. Want to celebrate the AFL? What's the AFL's signature moment? THE JETS WINNING SB3...that's the unis you wear everytime. And I agree, wear the 80's uni's as a throwback once and a while too."
kenny Said:
Sun, October 25, 2009 - 12:43pm ET"i dont mind the throw backs sprinkled in no and then to be honest but i would like to see them in the kelly green uni's the sack exchange wore the d back then was killer. wonder why rex hasn't thought "hey these could wake up my sleeping D". "
zachezman Said:
Sun, October 25, 2009 - 1:20pm ET"hahahahahaha i love em..by far the best throwbacks of any team .we went deep in the history to find em..Our uniforms haven't really evolved, since we became the jets..the biggest change was the 80-90;s...lets bring those back next year...i love the titans uniforms bye the way to all the haters..."

Seriously! This is a huge opportunity for the JETS to add to that number and not remain the worst defense in sacks! I don't care in the guy weights 260 we need to hit him hard and often!"
