File Under: Jerricho Cotchery, Kerry Rhodes, Chris Pierce, David Clowney

10/23 — You’ve seen the New York Titans white jerseys on JetsShop.com, and the Jets will don those classic throwbacks for the first time Sunday in Oakland. This will be the start of a two-week Jets run in the Titans road uniforms — white tops and gold pants with navy and gold trim. The “new” throwbacks will also make a Meadowlands appearance on Nov. 1 when the Dolphins pay a visit.

“I like ‘em. They pop,” said WR Jerricho Cotchery back in the summer when the Jets introduced the white tops to the public. “You can’t do anything but just stare at them. They’re nice-looking jerseys. I think they complement the [gold] pants well. I like them better than the blue.”

The Jets are celebrating their 50th season in 2009 and have worn a patch on their uniforms all season. They also donned an AFL patch in their first throwback contest, a 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 27, and that AFL mark will be on their jerseys the next two weeks.

“I like wearing the different jerseys. It makes you appreciate all the guys that were before us,” said Cotchery, who unfortunately has a hamstring injury and won’t be making the West Coast trip this weekend. “You see them around the league, but I love wearing our jerseys. It’s a completely different look than our regular jerseys.”

“The white’s hot,” added S Kerry Rhodes.

White-hot to start the season, the Jets have cooled and hope to break their three-game losing streak this weekend against an old AFL rival. In 18 previous regular-season appearances at either Oaktown or L.A., New York’s AFC representative has won just five times as Raider guests.

White is Right at JetsShop Madison Avenue

If you purchase a white Titans jersey at JetsShop Madison Avenue on Monday, you’ll receive two tickets to the Jets home game vs. the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 20. Chris Pierce, our senior director of merchandise, informed me that the Madison Avenue store will open at 10 a.m. and this special promotion will continue while supplies last.

Cotchery and Clowney Continue Charity Run

Both Jerricho Cotchery and David Clowney scored this past Monday night in the community. While Cotchery hosted his second annual “Tailgate with the Pros” at the ESPNZone in Times Square, his fellow receiver held his first-ever fundraising event — "Bowling with the New York Jets" — at Jersey Lanes in Linden, N.J.

Cotchery, whose evening featured comedy from Michael Jr. and included some Monday Night Football watching, was happy with the event and is excited about the direction of The Cotchery Foundation.

“It’s progressing really well. The things we were hoping to get done at the beginning are starting to come to fruition as far as the mentoring programs and things of that nature,” he said. “It’s been going really well. The camps have always gone well, but the mentoring program is something we really feel strongly about.”

Clowney, who will again be in the starting lineup this week, had a great turnout from his teammates and rookie Shonn Greene’s 169 score led all the players.

“The whole event was really outstanding, and I was almost in tears because of the support I received from my teammates, all showing up like they did,” he said. “The event would not have been an event without the players there. But it was a total success and it meant a lot to me to have that support from the players as friends.

“This will be an annual event. As long as I’m playing football in New York, I’ll keep doing it.”
