File Under: Drew, Mike Tannenbaum, Eric Mangini, Ira, 1000th, comment

08/09 — The Radar passed a grand milestone Wednesday. We posted our 1,000th comment to our Jets blog entries.

One thousand emails in this day and age may not sound like a lot. Some sites seem to get that many on a particularly hot-button topic in a day.

But to us at newyorkjets.com, that is a remarkably strong response. It's rewarding to see the thoughtful, passionate remarks pouring in steadily over the transom (when were transoms last in vogue architecturally, in the Fifties?) since we opened for business April 28. "Lower-case" Ira, "Real" Drew and all the rest of you knowledgeable Green & White fans have made it a treat to sort through the spambot mail to get to your comments for the day.

You may have noticed that we'll post a wide range of comments, even those critical of the team. I'll even put up comments critical of me.

In fact, the actual No. 1,000 comment, from Nep Oznat, for which he will receive no prize, wanted to know whether my characterization of Eric Smith being shaken up the other day was more accurate than some other highly unofficial Web sites suggesting a much more dire outcome for the young safety. "If THEY are right," Nep wrote, "I'll have to assume that you're printing as much truth as Pravda used to print in the USSR."

Pravda, yes, nice touch.

But repeating for all needing (thanks, Drudge), newyorkjets.com is the official site of the New York Jets. You can ask all the questions you want. If I can answer the question, I will. If I can't, I won't. Eric Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum don't discuss injuries in detail, don't talk in depth about the depth chart, don't speculate on contract negotiations, and I don't, either.

And we want you to tell us what you think, but please, don't curse, or even curse in code. Don't call anyone names. Don't taunt. Remember I've got a yellow flag in my back pocket, not to mention a delete key.

I just wanted to repeat these points to enhance the Radar experience for everyone, because now it's time to fasten our seatbelts and rocket into the season. I'll be blogging from all the Jets games, beginning with Friday night's preseason lidlifter (that word went out with transoms, I believe) against the Falcons. Check in early and often to get my perspective, behind-the-scenes observations, stats and charts you won't find anywhere else, and the pressbox buzz before, during and after the game.

And keep letting me know how the Radar and the Jets are doing, as I know you will.

"Signing Revis to 6 year deal makes sense and makes available cap money to re sign players. Mr Schwartz (agent) and his client are not interested in team dynamics. "

"It's time to give Kendall his due. he's done everything asked of him. Figure a way to save face and make this guy happy or cut him.. He's been a huge asset on the OL he's helped Brick and Mangold and makes key calls. He took his cut, played through pain, give him his due. "

"The JETS should really think about signing free agent Kabeer Gbaja Biamila he could be a great asset to the organization."
