Leon Loves Football but Still Isn't Happy

File Under: training camp, Kellen Clemens, Leon Washington, Rex Ryan, Reggie Hodges, SUNY Cortland, T.J. Conley

Leon Washington was not supposed to be on the field for more than warmups and individual drills this afternoon, which was his script for this morning's first practice of camp. This was all due to his arrival after midnight today to take his conditioning test in the morning and rejoin the Jets.

But as the rain dried up and the sun came out over SUNY Cortland, Washington was involved in regular dri… More

THE REX BOX: Weighty Matters

File Under: training camp, Rex Ryan, Marques Douglas, Howard Green

Today is Rex Ryan’s first day as an NFL head coach at training camp, and one thing on his mind — besides the Green & White — is no doubt his next solid food.

Ryan announced at the top of today’s news conference that today is also his first day on a diet.

No. 29's in the House: Leon's Practicing

File Under: training camp, Leon Washington

This just in: Leon Washington is in uniform and on the Cortland practice field with his Jets teammates.

Washington, the Jets’ Pro Bowl running back and kick returner, didn’t accompany the team to Cortland on Thursday, but head coach Rex Ryan in his remarks to reporters left the impression that No. 29’s arrival might not be far away.

We have no information on Washington’s contract situation… More

Can't Sleep ... Time for Training Camp

File Under: training camp, Eric Smith, Mike DeVito, Rex Ryan, David Clowney, Bart Scott, Howard Green, SUNY Cortland

The central New York hills are not as verdant this morning, shrouded in mist, and a sky in shades of mottled gray is rolling by overhead.

What a great day to start Jets Training Camp ’09.

The weather will no doubt keep some fans of the Green & White away, but despite this morning’s light rain, it’s full speed ahead for head coach Rex Ryan and his team to begin stretching on the Cortland Stadiu… More
